On Sunday (February 4) in the presence of FIFA President Gianni Infantino, FIFA TV announced the schedule and venue of the matches of the various stages of the next World Cup in a live broadcast event. It was informed there that the opening match of the 2026 World Cup will be held at Mexico's Azteca Stadium on June 11, and the final will be held at New Jersey's MetLife Stadium on July 19.
This is the first time that 48 countries will play in the World Cup. Knockout phase will start with 32 teams. There will be 104 matches! The group stage of the World Cup will begin on June 11 and will continue until June 27. The final 32-team battle will take place from June 29 to July 3. The round of sixteen games will be played from July 4 to 7. The quarter finals will be held from July 9 to 11. There will be two semi-finals on July 14 and 15. The final will be held on July 19 after the third place match on July 18.
This time the World Cup matches will be held at 16 venues in three countries. The list of venues includes Los Angeles, Houston, Miami, New York, San Francisco, Atlanta, Boston, Philadelphia, Seattle. Vancouver and Toronto were selected from Canada and Mexico City, Guadalajara and Monterrey were selected from Mexico.
