Shariful Islam's Focus on Injury-Free BPL and T20 World Cup Prep
Bangladeshi cricketer Shariful Islam, riding high on recent successes, is gearing up for the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) at Mirpur Academy ground. The left-arm pacer, eyeing a strong start to the cricketing year, has two primary objectives for this year's BPL.
Firstly, Shariful sees the BPL as crucial preparation for the upcoming T20 World Cup in the West Indies and USA in June. Secondly, he is determined to navigate the tournament without injuries, being mindful of the challenges faced by senior teammates Ibadat Hossain and Taskin Ahmed.
Highlighting the significance of BPL in T20 World Cup preparation, Shariful stated, "(BPL) will definitely help a lot because of the T20 World Cup. Everyone wants to give their best and do something new. It will also be useful in the World Cup."
Expressing confidence in maintaining his form, Shariful said, "Alhamdulillah, the last year went well, especially the last 6-7 months. Insha Allah, with BPL in the new year, I will return to cricket and try to maintain that form without pushing too hard."
Dhaka, led by Shariful, is set to face defending champions Comilla Victorians in the BPL opener. With the tournament spanning one and a half months, Shariful recognizes the importance of staying fit for the upcoming series against Sri Lanka after BPL, stating, "I will try to play as fit as I can. There are many games for the country. This is my main goal.
