Argentina's Pre-Copa America Preparations Extend to Asia with Nigeria, Ivory Coast Friendlies
In anticipation of the upcoming Copa America in the United States this June, Argentina is set to embark on an international tour for crucial friendly matches. The Argentine Football Association (AFA) has announced that the national team will venture to Asia for two significant encounters against Nigeria and Ivory Coast as part of their preparation.
Taking to social media, AFA revealed that Argentina will face off against Nigeria and Ivory Coast in China. The clash with Nigeria is scheduled to take place at the Hangzhou Olympics Sports Center Stadium, while Ivory Coast awaits them at the Workers Stadium in Beijing.
However, specific match dates have yet to be confirmed. According to reports from TYC Sports, a reputable Argentine football media outlet, these two friendlies are slated to occur between March 18 and 26, providing crucial international exposure and preparation for Argentina ahead of the Copa America.
Initially, Argentina was also slated to engage in a match against China during this tour. However, logistical conflicts arose as China has a World Cup qualifying fixture against Singapore during the same timeframe. Consequently, AFA has withdrawn from the initial plan to face China in light of this scheduling conflict.
Argentina's decision to venture to Asia for friendly matches underscores their commitment to rigorous preparation and testing against formidable opposition from different continents, aiming to fine-tune their squad and strategies before the prestigious Copa America tournament in the United States.
