Despite being the captain, Pant will not be seen as a keeper-batsman in the opening matches. By understanding the condition of the body, he can keep in the later part of the tournament.
Delhi Capitals co-owner Partha Jindal confirmed Pant's return and captaincy to ESPN Cricinfo.
Jindal said, 'Rishabh is now batting and running. Also started wicketkeeping. He looks to be fully fit for the IPL. Rishabh is expected to play in IPL and lead from the first match. We will play him only as a batsman in the first seven matches. After understanding how his body responds, I will take the next decision (about keeping).'
IPL will start from March 22. Delhi Capitals' first match is against Punjab Kings on March 23.
