The tournament spans 12 days and will commence with an opening match between Deccan Gladiators and New York Strikers. The other participating franchises include Northern Warriors, Morrisville Samp Army, Delhi Bulls, Team Abu Dhabi, and Chennai Braves. Despite registering for the season, Shakib Al Hasan and star pacer Taskin Ahmed will be absent from the field due to injuries. Shakib, in addition to his physical setback, is occupied with election-related commitments.

Nicholas Pooran, the captain of defending champions Deccan Gladiators, expressed his satisfaction with the previous season and his desire to retain the coveted trophy. Meanwhile, Benny Howell, the English all-rounder, assumes the leadership role for Bengal Tigers this time. Howell conveyed his enthusiasm, saying, "I am pleased to lead the Bengal Tigers this year. It is a crucial year for us, and we aim to secure a position in the top four."
