From World Cup to Test Series: New Zealand's Cricket Journey in Bangladesh
The New Zealand cricket team has arrived in Dhaka for a two-Test series against Bangladesh. Originally scheduled to travel to Sylhet on Wednesday morning, there has been a change in the travel plans. Both teams will now reach Sylhet at night after a day of rest, as confirmed by BCB media manager Rabid Imam.

The World Cup campaign for both teams concluded recently, and now they are gearing up for the upcoming Test series. Led by Nazmul Hossain Shanto, Bangladesh will compete in a two-match Test series as part of the ICC Test Championship. The Kiwi team arrived in Bangladesh on Tuesday night from India, where they participated in the World Cup.
Upon reaching Sylhet on Wednesday night, the players from both teams will engage in practice sessions on November 23 and 24, followed by a one-day break. Another round of practice is scheduled for November 26 and 27. The first test match is set to commence on November 28 at 9:30 am at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, with the teams returning to Dhaka on December 3. Official practice sessions for the cricketers will take place on December 4 and 5, leading up to the second and final Test match starting on December 6 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur. The New Zealand team will wrap up their visit on December 11 after the conclusion of the two-match Test series.

This series is part of the 2023-25 ICC World Test Championship and marks Bangladesh's first series in the new cycle. Nazmul Hossain Shanto will captain the team in the absence of regular captain Shakib Al Hasan, who sustained a finger injury during the World Cup. Liton Das, who captained Bangladesh in the last Test against Afghanistan in June, has been granted paternity leave for a month. Additionally, experienced opener Tamim Iqbal will not be participating in the series, and pacer Taskin Ahmed has been ruled out due to injury. These absences present significant challenges for Bangladesh.
Meanwhile, Nafees Iqbal, Tamim's elder brother, has been appointed as the team manager for the Bangladesh national cricket team for the series against New Zealand.
