Today Saturday (June 29) at 8:30 pm Bangladesh time, India and South Africa will be in search of the title at Kenningston Oval, Bridgetown, Barbados. The Proteas are looking to win the ICC World Series title for the first time. On the other hand, India is eyeing to repeat the history and recover the title. India last won the title in the first edition in 2007.
Before this, South Africa had to leave the semi-finals of the World Cup a total of seven times. This is the first time the Proteas entered the final. The team's performance throughout the season has given captain Aiden Markram extra confidence ahead of the final. He commented, 'Getting the opportunity to play in the final is a huge achievement. Team captain Rohit Sharma wants to maintain this trend in the final as well. India wants to bring back the happy memories of 2007 in the ninth edition of the World Cup.
In the press conference before the match, Rohit said, 'We have a golden opportunity to bring back the happy memories of 2007. Everyone in the team is looking forward to winning the T20 World Cup trophy after 17 years. I was in the team of that event. I hope we can enjoy the celebration of winning the title again.
About the final against South Africa, Rohit said, 'As a team we have to stay calm. Because, if the head is cool and not stressed, the right decision can be taken. There is no other way to win the final but to play good cricket. We are playing aggressive cricket now. I want to play the same plan in the final.
India and South Africa have faced each other in 26 T20 matches so far. Out of this, India won 14 matches and South Africa won 11 matches. 1 match abandoned. India have won 4 of the 6 matches they have faced in the T20 World Cup against South Africa's 2 wins. India won the World Cup in 2007, 2010, 2012 and 2014. Proteas' wins in 2009 and 2022.
