After the fall of the Awami government, regular news about the corruption of BCB is being published in the media, which has come to the attention of Asif Mahmud. In the press conference today, Asif was asked to know what action will be taken in the event that the corrupt activities are repeated in the cricket board. Thanking the journalists, the Sports Adviser said, 'Yes, of course we are already aware of the allegations of corruption and injustice in the sports sector and we see that you are finding them and publishing them in the media. Thank you too. We will investigate these matters and action will be taken against those responsible. I have already spoken to the BCB and cricket-related people so that such incidents do not happen in the future. There is a plan to make the constitutions of each federation democratic so that there is no opportunity to practice dictatorship.
Apart from cricket, Asif Mahmud has promised to depoliticize all sports in Bangladesh. Sports advisor said, 'We have an agenda to free sports from political influence. For that we will form a search committee, who will look at the current status of each federation. They (the search committee) will publish a report on those who are working, those who are responsible, whether they are there (in charge) and what is their background, on what basis they are there. Federations will be filled with those who are associated and working with the sport. I will try to reduce the political affiliation as much as possible.
After the change of power in Bangladesh, a regular scene is seen in the BCB office in Mirpur. Sometimes protestors chant slogans, arrive in groups or sit in groups near the main gate. A few days ago, pro-BNP organizers and their followers staged a protest in front of the Shere Bangla Stadium. The banner of the Bangladesh Sports Development Council read, 'This is the time to free the BCB from the hands of the corrupt.' It also mentioned the names of some top officials of the BCB. Most of whom were involved in the politics of the recently collapsed Awami League.
