Australia had briefly held the number 1 ranking after defeating India in the final of the World Test Championship in June of the previous year before India took over. Prior to this, Australia had maintained the top ranking for an impressive 16 consecutive months from January 2022 to May 2023.

In the current rankings, Bangladesh sits at number nine with 51 rating points, while England holds the third position with 115 rating points, and South Africa is in fourth place with 105 rating points. Following them are New Zealand, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Windies.
