Uganda is the first team to release this year's World Cup jersey. Elijah Mangani's jersey design in March featured a stork print. Mangeni was inspired to design the World Cup jersey by seeing the gray stork, Uganda's national bird. However, according to a report by Cricket.com AU, the logo of the sponsor on the jersey could not be clearly understood due to the stork bird. That's why the ICC asked them to change the jersey. Uganda's latest jersey change ahead of the World Cup sees the bird's wings lightly clipped. A similar change has been seen in the team's trousers ahead of the World Cup.
Uganda Cricket Association Public Relations Officer Musali Dennis spoke about the change. According to a report by Cricket.com AU.com, Dennis was heard saying, "ICC asked to change the design. But we didn't have enough time to make the necessary changes. As the design was asked, we had to follow it. 20 percent is lost from the original design. The rest are fine.
This is the first time Uganda is going to play T20 World Cup. A few days ago they announced the team in a different way in view of the World Cup. The team is now in 'C' group. Uganda will begin their World Cup campaign with a match against Afghanistan in Guyana on June 4. Uganda will play against Papua New Guinea and West Indies on June 6 and 9 at the same ground. Uganda will conclude the group stage with a match against New Zealand in Trinidad on June 15.
