Opting to field after winning the toss at the ICC Academy ground in Dubai, Bangladesh restricted Sri Lanka to 199 runs for the loss of nine wickets in their allotted 50 overs. In pursuit of the target, the Bangladeshi youngsters showcased their mettle by reaching the goal with 55 balls to spare and four wickets in hand. The architect of Bangladesh's victory was opener Ashikur Rahman, who played a stellar innings.
Despite an early setback with Jisan Alam departing without opening the scoring, Ashiqur Rahman Shibli and Chowdhury Mohammad Rizwan steadied the ship with a 74-run partnership. Ariful Islam contributed 57 runs for the third wicket before being dismissed for 32 off 39 balls. A nervy moment ensued as Ahram Amin fell for 23 runs, just nine runs shy of victory. However, opener Ashikur Rahman held firm, guiding Bangladesh to victory with an unbeaten century. He scored 116 runs off 130 balls, adorned with 11 fours and 2 sixes, earning him the well-deserved Man of the Match award.
Earlier, Sri Lanka struggled against the disciplined bowling attack of the Bangladeshi bowlers, with Pulindu Perera top-scoring with 28 runs. Captain Sineth Jayawardene and Vishwa Lahiru contributed 25 runs each, but the Lankan batsmen failed to put up a substantial total. The scoreboard saw collaborative efforts from Rusanda Gamagi, Sarunjan, Ravishan De Silva, Dinura Kalupahana, and Ruvishan Perera, but their combined efforts only amounted to 199 runs.
