Shakib's Return to Action in Sylhet Confirmed
Shakib Al Hasan has consulted with an eye specialist at Raffles Eye Center in Singapore. Fortunately, surgery is not currently on the cards for Shakib, according to the medical team at the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). They plan to adopt a conservative treatment approach.
Following his visit to Singapore, Shakib returned on Wednesday night with reassuring news. It appears that the worst-case scenario has been averted. Shakib is set to travel to Sylhet today to join the Rangpur Riders squad for their upcoming matches, scheduled until February 3. He is expected to be available for selection from the first match onwards.
BCB's chief doctor, Debashish Chowdhury, stated, "After consulting with local and international ophthalmologists and conducting various eye tests, it has been determined that Shakib is suffering from extrafoveal central serous chorioretinopathy in his left eye."
Although this condition can affect general vision, the medical team has confirmed that it won't hinder his participation in cricket at present.
Given the delicate nature of eye-related issues, the treatment approach will prioritize caution and gradual improvement rather than aggressive interventions.
The Rangpur Riders management emphasized that Shakib's participation in matches will ultimately depend on his comfort level. He will only take the field when he feels fully ready
