It goes without saying that you cannot find a wicketkeeper in Indian cricket who has not been inspired by Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Lokesh Rahul is another star wicketkeeper who has handled the keeping burden of the Indian team in the post-Dhoni era. Rahul made his record in IPL history last night in front of Dhoni.
As a wicketkeeper batsman, Dhoni held the record for most fifty-run innings in the IPL. He played innings of minimum 50 runs 24 times in 257 IPL matches.
Rahul broke that record last night. Played a great innings of 82 runs against Chennai. Overall, this was his 25th fifty in the IPL. Now he is at the top of the list.
South Africa's Quinton de Kock is third in this list with 23 fifties as a wicketkeeper-batsman. Royal Challengers Bangalore's Dinesh Karthik is fourth with 21 fifties and former batsman Robin Uthappa (18) is fifth.
Lucknow beat Chennai by eight wickets last night. Captain Rahul scored 82 runs off 53 balls. Mahendra Singh Dhoni's 311 strike gave a devastating innings of 28 runs off 9 balls.
