With eyes on the semi-finals, Bangladesh came down to answer, it was understood by the batting. Aggressive opener Jeesan Alam eased the pressure by hitting 4 boundaries in the beginning. Another opener Shibli Roy-Soy was playing. But, with the new ball, Pakistan's pacers gave a tough challenge to Bangladesh. Especially, pacer Ubaid Shah. The right-arm pacer guided the two openers to the dressing room in two consecutive overs in the first spell. Ahrar took back the wickets of Amin and Sheikh Parvez in the next spell.
Meanwhile, Ali Reza took the wickets of Ariful Islam and Chowdhury Rizwan. Bangladesh 6 wickets for 83 runs. The chances of a semi-final then slowly started to diminish. But Shihab James and the rabbi showed some hope. With a pair of 40 runs, it seemed that they would reach the target.
But, once again Ubaid became the savior of Pakistan. In his last over, Shihab James was palmed behind the wicket. Shihab was out for 26 runs despite getting life in his hands in the previous over. To add 1 run to the scoreboard, Bangladesh's last hope captain Rabi was dismissed for 13 runs.
Rohanat and Maruf sealed the match on the last wicket. They fought in the end with a pair of 23 runs. Bangladesh could not match the 5-run equation when Maruf was bowled by Pakistan's long-bodied pacer Jisan's bouncer.
Earlier in Benoni, Bangladesh captain Mahfuzur Rahman Rabbi won the toss and decided to bowl. Although there was a touch of fresh grass on the wicket, Bangladesh's two pacers Iqbal Hossain Emon and Maruf Mridha could not bring wickets. Pakistan's batting was not off to a bad start. The opening pair of Shamil Hussain and Shahzaib Khan picked up 37 runs in 8.3 overs. In the ninth over, pacer Rohnat broke the pair and gave the first taste of success. Azan Awais was his second victim after an over. Nama Azan caught behind the wicket for three. Ariful runs out Pakistani captain Saad Baig with a great direct throw from point.
Then Pakistan runs 66 for 3 wickets. From there they lost 3 more wickets to add 23 runs. Opener Shahzaib caught off-spinner Sheikh Parvez behind the wicket. Rohnat gets his third wicket by sending back Ahmed Hasan. Parvez then returned Haroon to Arshad. Pakistan's highest run-scoring pair came from there. Arafat Minhas and Ali Asfand scored 43 runs.
In the 36th over, Parvez broke the pair and Pakistan could not go the rest of the way. Pakistan collapsed with 56 balls to spare. The maximum 34 runs came from the bat of Arafat in seven games. Parvez and Rohanat took 4 wickets each with the ball for Bangladesh. Ubaid is the hero of Pakistan's victory with 5 wickets.
India and Pakistan have secured semi-finals from Bangladesh group. Australia and South Africa made it to the last four from the other group.
