In early December, Virat Kohli's restaurant in Juhu, Mumbai, was at the center of a controversy related to its dress code policies. Now, a new complaint has been lodged against the Delhi branch of Kohli's restaurant, accusing it of non-compliance with copyright laws pertaining to songs. The Delhi High Court has issued a warning to the restaurant authorities in this regard.
Despite Virat Kohli's personal adherence to rules, his restaurant has faced repeated accusations of non-compliance with the law. Recently, Phonographic Performance Limited raised a complaint against the DJ at 'One 8 Commune' in Delhi, alleging that copyrighted music was being played without permission. The organization took the matter to the Delhi High Court, asserting that the unauthorized use of their music was causing financial losses.
The first hearing for the case took place on Thursday, where both parties presented their arguments. In response, Justice C Hari Shankar of the Delhi High Court directed the restaurant authorities to immediately cease playing music owned by Phonographic Performance Limited.
Earlier this month, Kohli's restaurant in Juhu garnered attention for refusing entry to an individual dressed in traditional South Indian attire. The person, hailing from Tamil Nadu, wore a dhoti styled like a lungi, a customary and widely accepted garment in South India. This incident triggered a complaint by the Kohli fan on social media, leading to severe criticism of 'One 8 Commune' authorities. Now, with the Delhi restaurant facing allegations of breaking copyright laws, the establishment is once again under scrutiny.
