Shakib Al Hasan, nominated from the Magura-2 constituency in the upcoming 12th National Parliament Election, embarked on a journey to his hometown, Magura, with a substantial convoy three days after receiving the nomination.
The left-handed opener commenced his trip from Dhaka on Wednesday morning, accompanied by two national team cricketers, Rony Talukder and Nazmul Hossain Apu, as well as cricketer Al-Amin Junior. In addition to the national team cricketers, the convoy included several leaders and activists from the Awami League.
Shakib, recognized as the world's best all-rounder, set out for his constituency with a significant fleet from the central Shaheed Minar on Wednesday morning. He will be representing the Awami League in the upcoming national elections, symbolized by the boat.
Having collected the party's nomination papers for Dhaka-10 and Magura-1 and 2 constituencies on November 18, Shakib secured a boat ticket for his native Magura. The 12th National Assembly elections, as per the Election Commission's schedule, are slated for January 7, with the deadline for submitting nomination papers being November 30 for candidates participating in this election.
