Several issues, including the review of the World Cup failure report, the selection panel or the leadership of the national team, are pending due to a board meeting. Finally the date of the much awaited board meeting of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has been finalised.
The ninth board meeting of BCB will be held on February 12 during the break of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). BCB sources have confirmed that the date has been finalised. Several important issues will be decided in this meeting. The agenda of the board meeting includes- review and decision of India World Cup report, appointment and position of national team coach, leadership, selection panel, Sheikh Hasina Stadium, Women's World Cup and central contract of cricketers.
The last board meeting of BCB was held in June last year. This meeting was supposed to be earlier. But the board meeting was delayed as BCB president Nazmul Hasan Papon and other directors were busy with the National Assembly elections.
Even after the election, the date was not available due to BCB president's busy schedule. Nazmul, who became the youth and sports minister for the first time, was busy in various meetings of the ministry. Finally the date is finalized in the second week of February.
This board meeting is very important for several reasons. In particular, according to the investigation report, the board will have a special eye on how the World Cup failure is addressed. Apart from this, there will be a special look at who is taken as the new coach along with the reshuffle of the national team leadership, selection panel and coaching positions.
