Former Pakistan pacer Aqib Javed has been appointed as Sri Lanka's pace bowling coach. Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) announced his appointment on Saturday. For now, he has been given responsibility till the end of the next T20 World Cup. His appointment will be considered effective from now.

Former Pakistan pacer Aqib Javed has been appointed as Sri Lanka's pace bowling coach. Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) announced his appointment on Saturday. For now, he has been given responsibility till the end of the next T20 World Cup. His appointment will be considered effective from now.
Akib has a rich career in cricket field and coaching. From 1988 to 1998, he played 22 Tests out of 163 ODIs in Pakistan's jersey. Won the ODI World Cup in 1992. Has taken more than 200 wickets with the ball. He was the coach of Pakistan's Youth World Cup winning team in 2004. Aqib was the bowling coach of the T20 World Cup winning team in 2009.
As a coach, the former Pakistani pacer brought the ODI and T20 status to the United Arab Emirates. Aqib is currently the Head Coach and Director of Cricket Operations of Lahore Qalandars in PSL. Since 2017, he has won the title in the 2022 and 2023 seasons while serving Lahore Qalandars.
