He will be in charge until the T20 World Cup to be held in the United States and West Indies next June. Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) confirmed the appointment of Mushtaq in a press release on Tuesday.
The 53-year-old Mushtaq will join the Bangladesh team at the end of this month. The red-green jersey holders will play a five-match Twenty20 series against Zimbabwe at home in May. Before that, he will be seen in the preparation camp.
However, BCB did not sign a long-term contract with Mushtaq, who played 52 Tests and 144 ODIs in Pakistan's jersey. He will be in charge until the T20 World Cup to be held in the United States and West Indies next June.
