Shakib Displays Cricket Skills in Election Campaign
After a finger injury in the Cricket World Cup kept Shakib Al Hasan away from the cricket field, he has resurfaced in a different arena – the political one. Representing his constituency in Magura, Shakib, now a Member of Parliament, showcased his cricketing prowess during a local event.
Wearing a cricket jersey, Shakib participated in a cricket match at Nomani Maidan on Friday at 9 am, organized by former and current cricketers from Magura. The gathering served as a reception where Shakib was congratulated by former players, including his childhood coach Saddam Hossain Gorky.
Following the formalities, Shakib took to the pitch, wielding the bat in an opening preeti cricket match. Entertaining the crowd, he struck a few boundaries against local bowlers, eliciting cheers of "Shakib-Shakib" from the audience. Subsequently, he bowled an over before graciously acknowledging the spectators. He then shared pleasantries, expressing gratitude, and left the field to resume his election-related activities.
Speaking about Nomani Maidan, Shakib remarked, "This is where my cricket journey began, guided by Gorky Bhai." He reminisced about starting as a fast bowler before Gorky Bhai encouraged him to become a spinner, shaping his cricketing career.
