Chief selector Gasji Ashraf Hossain Lipu while explaining Shakib's inclusion in the team said that although Shakib is a political personality, only talent has been considered. The chief selector made this comment in response to a question about Shakib in a press conference on Monday (August 12).
"Of course we are worried about the current situation. We have to ensure his safety. Shakib Al Hasan is a top player of Bangladesh. In terms of selection we thought, since he is a political figure. Basically, considering his talent, he has been taken into the team.
The board announced the squad for the two-Test series against Pakistan yesterday evening. Mushfiqur Rahim and Taskin Ahmed returned to the team. Taskin has been picked up for the second Test. Batter Shahadat Hossain Dipu is out.
