Comilla Victorians, a star-studded team with a significant budget, opted for Liton Das as their captain, succeeding the four-time champion Imrul Kayes. While both teams boast strong local talent, Comilla has consistently been ahead in foreign player acquisitions. Despite winning three titles under Imrul Kayes, the franchise decided to pass the captaincy to Liton Das for the upcoming season.
Imrul, a successful captain in the BPL and key to Comilla's past victories, was not retained by the team before the draft. Although initially overlooked in the draft, he was eventually picked up by Comilla after no other team expressed interest. However, leadership responsibilities were not reinstated for Imrul this time.
On the other hand, Khulna Tigers, known for not splurging on team selection and foreign players, appointed Enamul Haque Vijay as their captain. The team, not considered strong on paper, aims to improve its performance under Enamul's leadership.
As the BPL kicks off on January 19 with seven teams this season, including the return of Durant Dhaka, all eyes will be on these new captains and their teams' performances.
