The Mirpur Shere Bangla National Cricket Stadium, renowned as the 'Home of Cricket,' is undergoing refurbishment in preparation for the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). The focus is on installing new chairs and enhancing various areas within the stadium.
As the primary national stadium with a seating capacity of 25,000, several seats in different sections, particularly the north-south clubhouse and east gallery, are in disrepair. The upcoming BPL opening match on January 19 has prompted the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) to initiate the installation of 7,500 new chairs in these specific areas.
Syed Abdul Baten, Manager of BCB's Grounds Department, stated, "Approximately 350 chairs will be placed in the East Gallery. The primary challenge lies in the north and south clubhouse galleries, where damaged chairs will be replaced with new ones before the BPL kick-off."
