Bangladesh Faces Defeat as South Africa Clinches Series with a 216-run Win
In a challenging battle on the cricket field, Bangladesh's women's team found themselves falling short by 216 runs against South Africa. The match, held in Lahore in November 2019, witnessed Jyoti's team attempting to surpass the formidable target of 316 runs set by Laura Woolvert's South African side.
Jyoti had previously led her team to victory with a record-breaking chase of 211 runs against Pakistan. However, this time, the Bangladeshi girls struggled to match the intensity of their opponents. The match concluded with Bangladesh being all out for just 100 runs, sealing South Africa's victory and securing a series win of 2-1.
The defeat became evident as Bangladesh lost six wickets with only 78 runs on the scoreboard, confirming the uphill battle they faced. Apart from Ritu Moni, who scored 33 runs before getting out, none of the team's batsmen managed significant contributions. With only two others reaching double figures – Fatima Khatun (15) and Nahida Akhtar (11) – Bangladesh succumbed to a total of 100 runs in 31.1 overs.
