Spanish club Barcelona is having a bad time. It is on the verge of missing out on the La Liga title, as well as being eliminated from the Champions League. This time the Catalan club received another bad news. UEFA has fined the Spanish club for the racist behavior of the supporters in the PSG field.
Barcelona won 3-2 at PSG in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals last week. The Catalan club crashed out of Europe's top flight after losing 4-1 at home in the second leg on Wednesday. But in the first leg, their supporters went to France and created chaos.
Barcelona fans behaved racistly during the first leg at the Parc des Princes in Paris. Not only that, UEFA has complained against the club's fans for damaging the stadium by setting off fireworks. For this reason, the Spanish club has been fined 32,000 euros (about 38 lakhs in Bangladeshi taka).
Punishment was only to end here. But this did not stop Europe's highest football organization. Apart from the fine, another punishment has been given to Barcelona. The club will not be able to sell away tickets to their supporters for their next match in the UEFA competition.
The club must take responsibility for this abuse of the fans. At the same time, UEFA has given Barcelona 30 days to settle with PSG to compensate for the stadium damage. They said that if everything is not right, further action will be taken.
