Cricket Excellence: India's Showcase in the World Cup XI
India has asserted its dominance in the World Cup as the golden trophy traversed from the Tasman Sea, across the Arabian Sea, and along the Sabarmati River in Ahmedabad. Despite a stumble in the last match, the rhythmic cricket played by the team throughout the tournament secured their sixth World Cup victory, leaving the Tasman team content.
The evidence of India's outstanding performance in the tournament is reflected in the ICC's announced World Cup XI. Six players from the host team India secured a spot, with only two Australians claiming the title. Additionally, two players from South Africa, and one each from New Zealand and Sri Lanka earned their places. Leading the team is Rohit Sharma, serving as the captain of India's best XI in the World Cup, alongside Virat Kohli, Lokesh Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja, Jasprit Bumrah, and Mohammad Shami.

Kohli, who shone brightly in the World Cup, set a record for the highest runs in the tournament, achieving a fifty in all but two of his 11 innings, including three centuries. Shami emerged as the highest wicket-taker with an impressive tally of 24 wickets. The World Cup XI also features Glenn Maxwell and leg-spinner Adam Zampa, who showcased their prowess in the tournament. Maxwell's remarkable innings against Afghanistan secured his place in the champions' ODI side, while Zampa led Australia in wickets, matching Muttiah Muralidharan's record for the most wickets by a spinner in a single match.
The South African duo of Quinton de Kock and Gerald Coetzee also earned their spots in the best XI. De Kock, known for his explosive batting, amassed 594 runs at a strike rate of 107.02, ranking third in total runs behind only Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. In the absence of Einrich Norcia, Coetzee stepped up in the pace attack, claiming 20 wickets in 8 matches with an impressive average of 19.80 and an economy of 6.23.
The Best World Cup XI comprises Quinton de Kock as the wicketkeeper, Rohit Sharma as the captain, Virat Kohli, Daryl Mitchell, Lokesh Rahul, Glenn Maxwell, Ravindra Jadeja, Jasprit Bumrah, Dilshan Madushanka, Adam Zampa, and Mohammed Shami. Gerald Coetzee is recognized as the twelfth player in this stellar lineup.
