The New York Strikers did not get the taste of the championship despite reaching the final last time. Opponents most successful team Deccan Gladiators. New York won the Abu Dhabi T-Ten for the first time after defeating that Deccan. Takes sweet revenge.
New York won the toss and put Deccan in to bat at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. The team could not throw a challenging score with the bat. They lost 5 wickets and scored 91 runs. Chasing, New York left the field with a 7-wicket win with 4 balls in hand.
Asif Ali became the man of the match after playing a stormy innings of 48 runs off 25 balls. Kieron Pollard scored 22 runs off 13 balls. Both left the field undefeated but winning over New York.
But New York got off to a shaky start. When the two openers Rahmanullah Gurbaz-Mohammed Wasim returned to Sajr for 7 runs, they were shocked. Asif-Pollard overcame the shock and took the team to victory.
Earlier, Deccan could not maintain the consistency even though the start was great. The team lost wickets at regular intervals and fell under pressure. In the end Andre Russell-David Visser could set a target of 92 runs. Russell was unbeaten with 30 from 18 balls and Visa 20 from 11 balls. Sunil Narine took maximum 2 wickets for Deccan.
