Rumors were that Julian Nagelsmann will leave Germany's coach at the end of the next European Championship. The prospect of a return to Bayern Munich was strong. But for now nothing is happening. He has extended the contract with the German national team. This German coach will continue his duties until the 2026 World Cup.
The German Football Association (DFB) announced the extension of the 36-year-old Nagelsmann's contract in a statement on Friday. Nagelsmann succeeded Hans Flick last September. His previous contract was until the Euro held in Germany next June-July.
After renewing the new contract, Naglesman said, 'I took the decision from the heart. It is a great honor for me to coach the national team and work with the best players in the country. We have a chance to inspire the whole country by performing well and achieving success.'
Nagelsmann was previously in charge of Bayern. The club sacked him in March last year. However, the club's executives have been discussing the possibility of returning to Bayern for the past few days. But in the end he decided to remain in charge of Germany.
