As the 2024 IPL auction approaches, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have made significant decisions in releasing 12 players from their roster. Among the notable names are Shakib Al Hasan and Liton Das, who were part of the squad in the previous auction. Additionally, the franchise has also let go of Mustafizur Rahman.
Mahmudullah and Shakib Al Hasan, who previously played for the Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL, have divergent fates in the upcoming auction. While Shakib and Liton Das, who participated in the last season, are absent from this year's draft, six other Bangladeshi cricketers have eagerly enlisted their names. The players include Mostafizur Rahman, Mahmudullah Riyad, Taskin Ahmed, Shariful Islam, Hasan Mahmud, and Mehdi Hasan Miraj. The IPL Governing Council unveiled the draft list on Friday.
Bangladesh opener Liton Kumar Das has been ruled out of the upcoming match due to a hamstring injury, as confirmed by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) in an official notification. According to BCB physio Kieron Thomas, an MRI revealed a low-grade strain in Liton's right hamstring.
Liton Das was named in the squad for the first two ODIs of the three-match series. However, this opener did not get a place in the third and last match of the series due to off form. Zaker Ali Anik was taken into the team instead.
